About Me

 Moving Without The Mayhem

You never know when you will have to sell your house and move to a new place, but unfortunately, that was what I was faced with a few years back. I realized that I was really having a difficult time making ends meet, and so I started evaluating my options. Moving and relocating was simple, and I was really focused on saving cash. I found a cheaper apartment that worked well for my needs, and I began cutting out extra expenses to pare down the spending. I wanted to start a new website all about moving without the mayhem, so I made this little blog.

Talk To Moving Companies To Get Quotes On Your Move

by Erika Bell

Moving isn't a fun task. You may be excited about being in your new house, but the entire process of actually getting there may be something that you are dreading. One way to make it easier on yourself is to talk to movers. A moving company can help you and make your move easier. If you are going to hire a moving company, you should get a couple of quotes before you make your final decision so that you can find the company that will work best for you. When talking to the movers, what are some things you should talk to them about?

Overweight or Delicate Furniture

You may have the average furniture that shows up in anyone's house, and that probably is going to be fine for the movers, but you may also have furniture that is going to need to have some special care. For example, if you have something very heavy, like a large china cabinet or something delicate, like an antique chest, they will both need special handling. That special handling may cause you to pay extra fees since it will take more planning and equipment to handle it.

Flights of Stairs

You should also let the moving company know how many flights of stairs they will have to deal with when they are moving. If there are several flights of steps that will have to be maneuvered through, the moving company may charge you extra per flight of stairs. Steps can slow down the flow, increase the risk of injury for the movers, and increase the risk of damage to your belongings. So, make sure that you tell them how many flights of stairs you have, both at your current location and at your new house.

Books

You might not think about this one, but it is something that you need to let the movers know when you are getting a quote. While book boxes tend to be small, they get really heavy, and that can take a lot of work to get moved. If you have an extensive book collection, you need to let the movers know so they can be prepared.

If you are getting ready to move, you might want to think about having movers help you with the move. It can make things easier for you, and it can get your move done quicker.

Call local movers for more information.
